The Power Of Three
From Celtic Roots to Eastern Wisdom
Originally a Celt from the wild Highlands of Scotland, I found myself immersed in Eastern philosophies living in Hong Kong for 30 years, Here I found the ancient Chinese embracing the same principles of wisdom regarding the ‘Power Of Three‘. The Celtic concept of three worlds, the tree of life connecting the underworld with the heavens above. It is a symbol of nature’s balance and harmony, where we as humans take our natural role.
“We are connectors of heaven and Earth, the healing power of the Earth below, and the spiritual energies of above. If we can connect to both, as is our true place in this world, by connecting to and resonating with them, there is nothing we cannot achieve and nothing we cannot be.”
— Susan Jamieson M.D

As well as representing cyclical regeneration, and seasonal changes, there is a deeper meaning, in our connection with our ancestors and the other worlds of the nonphysical. Associated Celtic ideas were that of the triple goddess, Mother, Maiden and Crone, indicating the stages of our life cycle. Further than this, in religions such as Christianity and Hinduism, we see the Power of Three Concepts is also represented in spiritual traditions as being three faces of God.
Back in Hong Kong, the Chinese name for China, Zhong Guo, indicates that the Chinese people are in the middle between two worlds, above and below. In older dynasties days, it was the Emperor’s role to mediate between the two great forces, which was why he was considered a ‘God on Earth‘. In ‘Energy Medicine’ we would say this is representative of our connection to the planet below, through the food and water of the Earth which sustains us. Above us the air which fuels us with vital life-giving oxygen. This idea is in keeping with the ancient Qi Gong concept that we are somehow the mediators between heaven and earth, literally a conduit between them.
Additionally, we can view the ‘Power of Three’ in a more metaphysical way: we are the link between the physical and the non-physical worlds. The secret of the ‘Power of Three’ is not just in an esoteric concept of ‘connecting heaven and earth’, but more in connecting all the parts of our psyche and therefore connecting us firmly to our true place in nature’s order. My latest online course -part one—begins to help people with their stress levels (fragmentation) and general feelings of confusion in modern society. It’s ancient wisdom, however, taught by myself, a qualified physician with over 20 years of experience in using it with clients. Please join me here!
The Power of Three: Bridging Heaven, Earth, and Self
From Separation to Sacred Connection: Healing Ourselves and the Earth
In modern society we have lost this idea of inter connectedness, with not only each other but with nature. This misconception of separation has essentially led to all the problems that we have on this earth, including abuse of our planet. After all, it’s impossible to destroy the land that provides all our sustenance if we see it as being our Mother!
The sense of separateness not only destroys our society but has its impact on our own psyches, which become increasingly fragmented. We live in a time where even schoolchildren were getting anxiety attacks, before anyone heard of Covid-19! The secret of the ‘Power of Three’ is not just in an esoteric concept in ‘Connecting Heaven and Earth’, but more in connecting all the parts of your psyche and therefore remembering who we truly are. At the same time, we access our joy and learn how to ‘Be Your Own Light‘.
