In author on light energy in well-being, and international speaker, Dr. Jamieson is known as ‘The Light Doctor’. She trained in ‘Somatic Experience’, S.E. therapy, a lead therapy for P.T.S.D. She also served as an honorary associate professor for the Chinese University in Hong Kong and is a corporate trainer for major companies. Aside from this, she became a Reiki master and an EMF and EFT practitioner.

Susan’s Journey

Dr. Susan Jamieson is a medical doctor, trained at Glasgow University, Scotland, who pioneered an Integrative Health Practice in Hong Kong. Trained in energy medicine techniques, she is an author and speaks internationally on her specialization – light energy.

In her 20s she was guided from chilly, wet Glasgow to frenetic, heaty Hong Kong, without knowing one person or speaking a word of Chinese!

Looking back, it might seem like madness. However, something led her to get a job at a Tuberculosis hospital, “The Ruttonjee,” serving the poorest of the poor, such as opium addicts and street sleepers from Wanchai. These individuals were highly susceptible to Tuberculosis, a scourge of the 19th and 20th centuries. Often, there was no treatment for ‘multi-drug resistant TB,’ meaning if she had contracted it from her patients, she likely would have died.

This hospital was started and run by nuns who were doctors and nurses. It was only decades later that she discovered her great aunt had been a missionary who had left Scotland to ‘Spread The Light in China. At exactly the same age, from the same area of Scotland.

It became apparent that we really do ‘Follow in the footsteps of our ancestors’. More than this, she believes that there is a resonance in the light of our DNA connecting the generations, and guiding us!

Transitioning to Energy Medicine and Spirituality

Her work changed from traditional medicine to embracing energy medicine, and then spirituality in well-being, through light, hence, TheLightDoctor! Academically, her work now ranges from biology to neuroscience and quantum physics, exploring connections between mind-body, and between therapist and client.

As doctor to several of the world’s most famous rock stars, including Mick Jagger, Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Il Divo, Greenday, Fergie of The Black Eyed Peas, Coldplay, The Eagles, and others, she understands the pressures of artists performing, and she contributes to arts sites on performers’ life management.

Passionate Teacher

Her passion is to share her knowledge of our beings as that of light. This includes the light fields at the core of our body, as well as those of the natural world, and how they can be accessed and utilized through integrative energy healing. This leads us further, to the exploration of non-ordinary reality, including intuition. Dr. Jamieson has 30 years experience using intuition in the medical field, and teaches the skills she’s learned at workshops worldwide. Nature Spirit

We understand her Celtic origins in her deep attunement to the natural world. She truly believes in a oneness between ourselves and the planet and of our interlinked fate. In particular to help downregulate and balance the nervous system she has embraced the world forest bathing and become doubly qualified as both a forest bathing practitioner and forest bathing practitioner (specific therapies for target groups such as hypertensives; cancer; mental illness, etc.)

Dr. Susan Jamieson has hosted the radio show ‘Radiolightworker’ and, more recently, features monthly guests from all walks of life on ‘News For The Soul’, and has been Hong Kong’s Radio 3 Doctor. She has also made a number of guest medical appearances on Hong Kong regional TV as well as CNN. For 25 years, she’s spoken on energy medicine, and now the combined approach with spirituality, on Hong KongTEDx and her books. She writes articles and writes regular blogs for the Hong Kong South China morning post and; AsiaSpa Magazine.

Humanitarian Rescue Worker

What has given her the most pleasure has been the opportunities in Asia for humanitarian work, local and international:

2013 Typhoon Haiyan/Tacloban Relief

for which she has received awards. Even her first posting in Hong Kong in the 80’s involved working in a government TB hospital with displaced Vietnamese boat people who arrived as refugees.

Responding to typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines

Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, also known as Super Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines, ranked as one of the strongest tropical cyclones ever recorded. It was stronger than Katrina and Sandy combined, and the scramble to respond with essential medicines was challenging.

For two days, Dr. Susan worked tirelessly to gather half a million dollars worth of vaccines and antibiotics to get them into Tacloban City. At that time, the devastation was immense, with an estimated 5,000 dead and 2,000 missing. Finally, Olive Luces (chief of NDRRMC, the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Manila) and Buddy Estudillo (head of CDRRMC – City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Tacloban) arranged for her transport from Manila to Tacloban via military flights. From the airport, she was then taken directly to the Town Hall to establish a clinic in the heart of the disaster-stricken city. This was a critical, life-saving mission, as infectious diseases posed a significant threat, potentially claiming more lives than the initial trauma. While wounds needed immediate triage, the risks of diarrhea and other illnesses due to lack of sanitation and clean water were also severe. Given that vaccines take two weeks to become effective, prompt administration was crucial. Individual volunteers like Dr. Susan were often able to mobilize more rapidly than large aid organizations.
