3,000 years ago in ancient Greece no one would ever open up a body after death as this was considered wrong, an offence against the Gods, and the assumption was made that the heart contained the soul and was also the driving center of our being. Modern science may be coming full circle, believing the light energy of the heart is vital for our well-being.

I can remember my medical student days of poring over anatomy textbooks, trying to remember every single placement of a nerve or muscle in the body – didn’t come so easily to me, and seemed dull and old fashioned!
I was therefore thrilled to read that there are still new discoveries in anatomy. It also amazed me that even though modern doctors and anatomists have been dissecting bodies in medical schools for hundreds of years they’re still making breakthrough discoveries.
In the past couple of decades, they showed that the heart sent signals to the brain, through nerve pathways. Literally, the heart light!
Of course, we knew it happened the other way around – in that if we got stressed the brain would send signals to the heart telling it to speed up, for fight and flight response. However this recent discovery of heart leadership has opened up lots of possibilities, to be discussed!
HEART CONSCIOUSNESS – THE HEART LIGHT

We are all familiar with heart energy in the guise of an E.C.G. done in the emergency room to check the heart’s light (electromagnetic) functioning if we have chest pain. Heart disease is a top cause of death in both sexes and these tests have gained widespread acceptance, although few realize that doctors are looking at traces made from frequencies of electromagnetic – light energy – coming from the heart! Now, with the research, we’re realizing that this light energy radiation is not only real but sending messages around the body.
Light is packed with vibrational information, and so we are being flooded with every heartbeat, with good or not-so-good information and signals.
HEART CONSCIOUS IN HEALING – BROKEN HEART SYNDROME

Takotsubo Syndrome (‘broken heart’) has received a lot of press in the past decade, as in this disorder even where there may be no blockages of the coronary arteries, toxins in the form of stress hormones cause damaging coronary inflammation and spasm. Although this is a temporary situation, as a reaction to strong emotions, the heart can be damaged as it would be in any other heart attack. Triggered by intense emotional states such as grief and anger, such a condition can be fatal.
For me, it’s just another piece of the puzzle regarding the true nature of our consciousness and explaining what really runs our body. In the last few decades the consciousness paradigm has been of the brain acting like a supercomputer running the show. However, back then we didn’t know that this heart light was signaling to the organ we assumed was making all decisions – the human brain.
More recently though we’re becoming more aligned with the ideas of our ancestors – that perhaps the heart is the center of our being. This is what I mean by, ‘Heart consciousness’.
If we journey further down this pathway, perhaps then it’s true that heart-centered values such as love, kindness, and forgiveness are truly valuable in our mental health. A more challenging concept, however, is that positive ‘heart health’ emotions can also affect our physical well-being. Here, in Takotsubo Syndrome, we find that this is very much the case.
