New Treatment for Sports Injuries, Back or Neck Pain:
Have you ever heard of Bowen therapy? A fabulous Australian therapy for injury repair, in sports, or for general pain reduction, back and neck pain. It’s used in the British national health system as well as by occupational therapists in Hong Kong hospitals and yet few people know much about this simple and fast acting body treatment.
So How Does Bowen Therapy Work?
Bowen therapy involves a one hour serious of precise, gentle movement to the skin, working on the fashia-connective-tissue underneath the skin and throughout the body. Fascia connects everything in the body. It connects the muscles and tendons as well as supporting the muscles, skin and all the organs. can you imagine the tissue envelope surrounding a raw chicken breast? This is the connective-tissue: faschia. If this is really tight and constricted the muscle underneath it (in this case the chicken breast!) Can’t possibly relax and function properly. Bowen therapy restorers the structural integrity of the body so everything is aligned in the correct place.
What Does Bowen Therapy Treat?
Bowen therapy effective for sports injuries or old injuries which haven’t healed 100%. Other indications are general muscle pain such as hip pains, Neck issues or low back pains ( even if due to a slipped disc injury, the faschial contraction and scar tissue will be making everything worse).
An Extra Angle for Stress, Tension and General Well-Being:
Our Therapist has developed special breathing techniques of which oxygenise and therefore heal the tissues to a greater degree. This combined with the work on fashia, give the patient the most incredibly relaxing effect, even lowering blood pressure.
“the connective-tissue not only connects muscles, organs and large structures but connects all the individual cells in those organs, even the brain. So with any Fashial contractions and tightenings, the cells can’t even go about their normal daily functions. This is one of the reasons why people experience such rapid improvement in their stress anxiety levels after a Bowen therapy session”
For reducing anxiety, pain, headaches and congestion and to improve sleep patterns, digestive issues, mobility and breathing problems.
What? Bowen Physical Therapy is a soft tissue and fascial release treatment
How? Application of Bowen Physical Therapy requires sequences of precise, gentle moves to the skin and superficial fascia with short breaks between the sequences to alert the central nervous system to release tension and restore optimal resting muscle tone
Aim? To restore structural integrity and optimal function
Application? Although notable changes can be seen after one treatment 3-4 sessions are required for changes to settle and maintain
Result? Reduction of pain and tension cycles returning the body to structural integrity with optimal function and postural alignment
